The Mendocino Area Parks Association (MAPA or MendoParks) is announcing the upcoming retirement of the Ford House Visitor Center and Museum manager Jim Owens.

Jim served as a Ford House Volunteer Docent for 17 years before becoming the Ford House Manager in 2015. While serving as the manager, Jim has been instrumental in fundraising for the maintenance and renovation of the historic Ford House. Jim has also worked closely with local artists and talented community experts to bring in fresh new ideas relating to exhibits and events at the Ford House.

Owens believes that his greatest accomplishment while manager has been the progress made with the Ford House restoration/renovation. MendoParks Executive Director Jenny Heckeroth agrees, noting that projects Jim headed up, like the installation of new hard wood flooring throughout the museum, will have lasting effects for many years to come.

MendoParks will be conducting a search for Jim’s replacement starting immediately. For information regarding how to apply for this part-time position call (707) 937- 4700 or visit www.mendoparks.org.
