Standish-Hickey State Recreation Area
Hike or Bike Campsites
Standish-Hickey State Recreation Area has close to 100 campsites available all year. Over 60 more are open during the summer after a seasonal bridge is installed. One site is set aside for bicyclists and hikers without cars. For camping reservations, fees, and more information, call (707) 925-6482.
From mid-September to mid-May, all sites are one price. From mid-May to mid-September, site fees vary.
hendy woods state park
The Azalea and Wildcat campgrounds sit between the majestic Big Hendy and Little Hendy redwood groves. Each has more than 40 sites with tables, barbecue stoves, and food lockers. Piped drinking water and restrooms with hot showers are nearby. Between April 29 through September 30, you can reserve these campsites online at the Reservations link on the park home page or by calling 800-444-7275. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis during the rest of the year.
The park’s four cabins can be reserved year-round, either online by clicking the reservation link at the top of the park’s home page or by calling (800) 444-7275. One cabin is ADA-compliant. A primitive first-come, first-served hike-and-bike camp is set aside for people who pedal or walk into the park.

MacKerricher State Park
More than 140 campsites accommodate tents and recreational vehicles. Family campsites have restrooms nearby, tables, food storage lockers and fire rings. Two group tent-only sites can accommodate up to 40 and 60 campers. To reserve between March and September, call (800) 444-7275 or visit www.parks.ca.gov.
Ten walk-in campsites offer a pack-in experience without a long hike. Walk-in campers park in designated area at the south edge of Surfwood Campground and carry supplies about 50 yards to campsites.
manchester state park
Camping Notice - March 20, 2017
Manchester State Beach will be open for camping on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights only this summer from May 26, 2017 through September 4, 2017 on a first come, first serve basis. The Group camp site will remain closed.
Nearly 40 family campsites and eight environmental sites are available first-come, first-served. The family sites can hold tents, trailers up to 22 feet, or RVs up to 30 feet long. The dune environmental campsites require a one-mile walk from the parking lot. Call (707) 937-5804 for environmental campsite conditions. The group campsite is limited to 40 people and 12 vehicles. Group camping reservations are recommended for weekends or summertime. To reserve the group site, call (800) 444-7275 or visit the website at www.parks.ca.gov.
mendocino woodlands state park
The Woodlands offers three private group cabin camping areas, each with a large, well equipped kitchen, dining hall, cabins, showers and bathrooms. The camping areas can accommodate groups of 30 to 200.
Camping for Individuals: Individuals can enjoy the camp in three ways:
- Contact a group camp listed on the Uncommon Vacations page to see if you can join. Many groups are looking to expand their numbers and would welcome you.
- Become a Friends of the Woodlands volunteer for an inexpensive, fun-filled weekend. Help the Woodlands tackle a project for a few hours, and have the rest of the weekend to yourself. Meals and lodging included.
- Sign up for Fall Weekend Workshops on interesting topics such as herbs, wilderness first aid, and more.
Navarro River REdwoods State Park
The Paul M. Dimmick campground is still closed.
Ten primitive sites at Navarro Beach Campground have chemical toilets with no running water. Camping is first-come, first served, with no reservations. Please call the District office Monday- Friday 08:00 am-5:00pm for further up-dates at (707) 937-5804.
russian gulch state park
Russian Gulch has 26 standard campsites, four equestrian campsites with corrals, and one group site. Reservations are strongly recommended in the summer. Campsites are available up to seven months in advance by calling (800) 444-7275 or make reservations at ReserveAmerica.com. Sites are first-come, first-served from Labor Day through late March.
Van damme state park
Family Camping – Van Damme has more than 65 drive-in campsites: 63 standard, 5 tent only, and 1 for groups. Spring through fall, reservations are strongly recommended. Reservations may be made up to seven months in advance and are available only by calling (800) 444-7275 or make reservations at ReserveAmerica.com.
Backcountry Camping — The park has 9 first-come, first-served “environmental” (primitive) sites in a redwood forest along the Fern Canyon Scenic Trail, 1.75 miles2 from the trailhead near the end of the campground.
Westport-Union Landing State Beach
Westport Union Landing State Beach is currently open for camping on a first come first served basis. There are over 3 miles of rugged and scenic coastline, with 86 campsites available in three campgrounds on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
