MendoParks Mission Statement: “To Inspire and Ensure Stewardship of the State parks in Mendocino County.”

An important part of the Mendocino Area Parks Association's mission is to fund educational programs in our local State Parks. Naturalist/ interpreters, and experienced docents provide various programs to a wide spectrum of ages.

The following programs are made possible through your donations and memberships:

Summer 2019 California State Parks Interpretive Activities

All activities are free and open to the public.

Program runs Memorial Day to Labor Day, 2019.

Beach Clean Up– 11:00-1:00pm, Big River Beach, meet in parking lot

Ecological Staircase Hike– 3:00-6:00pm, Jug Handle State Reserve, meet in parking lot

FRIDAY

Beach Story Time– 1:00-1:30pm, Russian Gulch State Park Beach

Junior Rangers– 2:00-3:00pm, Russian Gulch State Park Recreation Hall, ages 7-12

Fern Canyon Guided Hike– 4:00-5:00pm, Russian Gulch State Park Fern Canyon Trail

Campfire Program– 8:00-9:00pm, MacKerricher State Park Campfire Center

SATURDAY

Junior Rangers 1:00-2:00pm, MacKerricher State Park, meet in Lake Cleone parking area

Fern Canyon Guided Hike– 4:00-6:00pm, Van Damme State Park Fern Canyon Trail Head

Campfire Program– 8:00-9:00pm, Van Damme State Park Campfire Center

SUNDAY

Junior Rangers– 10:00-11:00am, Van Damme Visitor Center, ages 7-12

Glass Beach Education Station 1:00-2:00pm, MacKerricher State Park, Glass Beach

Ford House Visitor Center and Museum Living History Field Trips: 2nd - 3rd grade.

Second and third graders have the opportunity to step back in time and relive the pioneer days by making biscuits, churning butter, washing clothes the pioneer way, and playing pioneer games.  Other age groups will be considered, please contact Mimi Figlin Ford House Manager, for more information.
